SES files were originally used by Syntrillium Software's Cool Edit Pro, which was acquired by Adobe in May, 2003. Adobe rebranded the software as Adobe Audition and released the first version of Adobe Audition later that year. The SES file type is the primary file type associated with Audition and is an integral component of sound recording, mixing, editing, and mastering in the application. The file is created when saving a session, which allows the user to close the session, then re-open it for further work. NOTE: Adobe discontinued support for SES files in Adobe Audition CS5.5. However, you can still convert SES files to the newer XML-based .SESX format using Ses2Sesx.
