They are often referred to as "source files," which must be published, or "compiled," into .SBSAR files (substances) for use in other programs, such as Substance Painter, Unity, Unreal Engine 4, Maya, 3ds Max, or Cinema 4D. To publish a substance in Substance Designer, follow these steps: Select the SBS file in the Explorer. Click the "Publish" icon or right-click and select Export. Name the archive. Choose the compression and parameters exposure options. Click Ok.
