File created by Finale, a music note production program; contains kerning data referenced by Finale to display specific spacing for characters in music fonts.

instruction:

In Finale, every music font has a FAN file. FAN files that are in the Font Annotation folder are automatically loaded when starting Finale. On a Mac, you can locate your FAN files by right-clicking the Finale app in the Finder window, select Show Package Contents → Contents → Resources → Font Annotation. All of the FAN files are located in the Font Annotation folder.
