Asset file used by UnrealEd, an Unreal level editor that comes with Unreal Engine; contains an asset, such as a level, material, animation, sound, or particle system used in the Unreal Engine game.

Assets can refer to various types of content. They can be game levels, particle systems, blueprint scripts, materials, cinematic sequences, textures, static meshes, skeletal meshes, light profiles, or audio. Typically, artistic assets are created outside of UnrealEd using tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Photoshop, and then imported. In the Content Browser, the Asset Tree displays a list of folders in your content directories where the UASSET files are located. Here you can save, add, and delete assets. You can also open the folder location of the UASSET file in Windows Explorer.
