Emacs Compiled Lisp File

Classification:developer files
Compiled Lisp file created by Emacs, a customizable text editor; generated from a standard Lisp (.EL) file using the Emacs byte-code compiler; may contain Emacs configuration settings or may provide extra program functionality.

instruction:

To compile an EL file, type the following command in Emacs: byte-compile-file "filename.el" Make sure to replace "filename.el" with the actual filename Lisp file you want to compile. The compiler will generate a compiled version of the file with the same filename and a ".elc" extension. NOTE: Compiled files can be loaded and run faster than plain text Lisp files. Therefore, most Emacs extensions are saved as compiled ELC files.
